Oil Painting Workshops
Some the topics included in the workshop will be Composition and Design, Brushwork, Tonal Studies and Colour Mixing.
Other workshops will be held in the Spring through the months of April, June and September.
Landscape
With the breath taking mountain scenery, coastal harbours and lush garden the choice of subject matter for the artist is rich and varied. Sketching and painting out of doors provides the artist with the challenging opportunity to paint from direct observation. Where one will see the change of light, notice the calm or wind and how the atmosphere effects the landscape.
Still-Life
Should the weather be inclement and unsuitable for out door work, the hotel interior with its beautiful old world charm offers a very attractive alternative. Still-Life arrangements of fruit, bottles, books and flowers will be set up. Students may wish to take with them some objects from home which they feel they would love to paint. In this way the attraction that they feel for the subject matter will imbue the painting with vitality and emotion .
Painting from life whether it be indoors or out of doors provides the artist with the experience of translating the 3 dimensional form into a 2 dimensional study in which one will describe the play of light and shadow from the scene being observed on to the canvas.
